Get to Know The Area

Little Britain is a community in Kawartha Lakes located 15km (North of Port Perry) or 15 km southwest of Lindsay, Ontario. Don’t let the name fool you, there’s nothing “little” about Little Britain, it covers a large area (K0M 2C0). Neighbouring communities include Sonya, Pleasant Point, Ball Point, Port Hoover, Washburn Island, and Valentia.

While there are agricultural and farming operations, the majority of people living in this area are families, early retirees, and first-time home buyers. The town generates a fair amount of tourism due to cottagers and drivers detouring from Highway 7. Expect a tight-knit community with a surprising number of amenities and an active, hard-working population. Little Britain real estate is home to a lot of commuters travelling to York Region (an easy 50km commute), travelling south to Durham Region (30-40 km), and to Scarborough or Toronto, which is an easy 60-70 km drive (just by taking back routes).

Community Highlight

Buttertarts N More is where you will find the best local desserts, and a tourist attraction stop to pick up treats before heading out to the cottage. Also, it’s a crowd favourite during the Kawartha Lakes summer fest for the Buttertarts tour.

The Spudster in Little Britain (with another location in Lindsay, Ontario) is a community food truck that’s well-known far beyond the Kawarthas. You’ll find amazing poutine, a number of unique, over-the-top burgers, and some of the best fish and chips in the area. If fried food isn’t your thing, you’re guaranteed to find fresh vegetables or eggs at a local farmer’s roadside stand.

What To Do Here

As “The Sports Capital of the Kawarthas”, Little Britain has amazing sports amenities, including the Little Britain Arena and many fields, as well as baseball teams, minor hockey teams, and skating club programs for children and adults. Head to one of the many local festivals in the Kawarthas. Enjoy year-round outdoor recreation like fishing, snowmobiling, skating, and cycling in some of the trails and lakes available.

Real Estate

The average listing price for Little Britain real estate is just over $500,000, but homes range; you are just as likely to find a converted lakeside cottage/home as a custom built home on an acre or two. Homes are detached and often older, with lots of charm and unique architectural features. Many people purchase “year-round cottages” or farms in the area. Little Britain real estate offers a quick, picturesque commute for those living in the area and working in Durham, Newmarket, Lindsay, Peterborough, or even the GTA.
